BLUESTAR FORENSIC (Latent blood reagent)

  • Does BLUESTAR® FORENSIC require special storage conditions?
    • BLUESTAR® FORENSIC products should be stored in a dry environment in temperatures ranging 39°F - 86°F
  • How long is the active life of BLUESTAR® FORENSIC once mixed?

    • BLUESTAR® FORENSIC Magnum (minimum 24 hours).
    • BLUESTAR® FORENSIC Tablets (minimum 3 hours).
    • BLUESTAR® FORENSIC Training Tablets (minimum 3 hours).
  • How long do BLUESTAR FORENSIC last after application or use
    • The reaction OF BLUESTAR® FORENSIC is immediate upon application and last about 30 seconds to 2 minutes depending of the blood dilution and the material
  • Will BLUESTAR® FORENSIC react with synthetic blood?
    • BLUESTAR® Forensic reacts to human or animal hemoglobin and some synthetic blood. BLUESTAR® Forensic can also produce light reactions in the absence of blood. This reaction, called false positive, will occur on contact with certain acrylic paints, varnishes, chlorine products, etc. This light reaction is however very different from the reaction on blood, the latter being much brighter and more"blue". In addition, the reaction to contact with blood is instantaneous while a false positive will appear more slowly. Finally, a false positive will look like a white haze, like snow. With practice, you won't be able to mistake a blood reaction for a false positive.
  • Will BLUESTAR ® FORENSIC react to all blood (mosquito, human, animal)?
    • Yes, BLUESTAR® FORENSIC will react to all hemoglobin
  • What are the best positive controls when validating BLUESTAR® FORENSIC?
    • An example would be a bloodstain towel of porcine or bovine diluted blood. However, BLUESTAR® FORENSIC will react to all hemoglobin.
